Combined Sewer Overflow Status
Check the map for updates on combined sewer overflow (CSO) activity occurring before swimming, wading, fishing, or boating near a CSO warning sign and/or outfall. There are 58 permitted outfall locations within the combined sewer system in Harrisburg. Each location is inspected daily by Capital Region Water staff.
The map reflects the daily inspection data and information about CSO activity. There are 10 CSO locations that are also equipped for real-time monitoring to measure related activity. In selecting these sites, Capital Region Water considered geographic distribution, overflow frequency, and overflow volume to represent activity throughout the entire system. There are five outfall locations with monitors along the Susquehanna River and five outfall locations with monitors along Paxton Creek.
