Evaluate conceptual injection well to remove separated stormwater from the CRW combined sewer system.
Lower Paxton Creek-Stormwater Injection Well
Background:
The Stormwater Injection Well Study is focused on the wet weather control within the Lower Paxton Creek Priority Planning Area identified in the alternative evaluation in Section 8 of the City Beautiful H2O Program Plan. Significant CSO reduction is required for CSO-048 sewershed and stormwater injection well may be a viable/cost-effective method to divert stormwater from the Combined Sewer.
Project Purpose:
The purpose of the study will be to evaluate a conceptual injection well to remove separated stormwater from the CRW combined sewer system.
Project Summary:
Professional Services for the study phase to perform exploratory drill to determine site suitability for gravity stormwater injection well(s). CRW will explore sites within the PennDOT I-83 Expansion right-of-way – potential location of suitable permeable karst limestone. The design of gravity stormwater injection well(s) (shallower – approximately 100’ plus deep) would be coordinated with future contract phases of the PennDOT I-83 Expansion.
The project will be funded by PayGo.
