We heard from you!

Capital Region Water collected public feedback on the Stormwater Fee Proposal and Implementation Plan between June 27 and October 22, 2019. During that time, Capital Region Water recorded:

  • 25 public, community and neighborhood meetings
  • Individual meetings with 15 of the 16 largest impervious surface owners and an additional 10 meetings with the next largest impervious surface owners
  • Nearly 100 public comments; and
  • 45 media mentions

Thank you for reviewing the Proposal and Plan, attending a community event, and providing your input.

Capital Region Water’s Board committed to reviewing and considering all comments received prior to adopting rates and budgets for 2020. Below are links to a summary document of public comments received, an associated FAQ, and the full list of comments with responses.

The new stormwater fee takes effect October 1, 2020. The average residential property will see a flat fee of $6.15 per month. The stormwater fee will be charged separately from wastewater and will appear as a new line on monthly water/sewer bills beginning with the bill issued in October, 2020.

As a local municipal authority, Capital Region Water does not make a profit. Budgets are set to properly and efficiently operate the water, wastewater, and stormwater systems and to invest in our aging infrastructure.
