CAPITAL REGION WATER ANNOUNCES CONSIDER THE SOURCE DAY AND ARTWORK CONTEST
ACTIVITIES CELEBRATE THE VITAL ROLE WATER PLAYS IN OUR DAILY LIVES
HARRISBURG (April 20, 2016) – Capital Region Water announces two exciting ways for its customers in the Harrisburg Area to recognize and celebrate the vital role water plays in our daily lives.
On Saturday, May 7th 2016 Capital Region Water will be hosting Consider the Source Day at its DeHart Dam Facility in Clarks Valley, Dauphin County as part of National Drinking Water Week. The event will begin at 9AM with a litter cleanup along Route 325 adjacent to the DeHart Reservoir, the source of Capital Region Water’s Award Winning Drinking Water. Volunteers that participate in the cleanup will receive a tour of the DeHart Dam beginning at 12:00PM. Transportation will be provided for pre-registered attendees leaving Capital Region Water’s Customer Service Center located at 100 Pine Drive at 8:30AM. Registration is required for Consider the Source Day. Registration and additional information can be found online at capitalregionwater.com/considerthesourceday or in-person at Capital Region Water’s Customer Service Center. This event is made possible with sponsorships from Herbert, Rowland, and Grubic Inc., Arcadis, Benjamin Roberts, Flow Assessment, Gannett Fleming, and LCSWMA.
“Safe and delicious drinking water is vital to healthy families and a healthy economy but is too often taken for granted,” said Capital Region Water CEO Shannon Williams. “Consider the Source Day is our opportunity to show our customers first hand where their drinking water comes from, the work that goes into protecting it, and what they can do to protect this valuable resource.”
In addition to Consider the Source Day, Capital Region Water announces the City Beautiful H2O Art Contest in partnership with the Susquehanna Art Museum to celebrate the many ways water adds beauty and value to the City of Harrisburg. Anyone in the Harrisburg Area, and surrounding counties, can submit artwork including photographs, paintings, and videos in either adult or student age groups. Prizes valued up to $75 will be awarded thanks to sponsorships from U.S. Municipal, Benjamin Roberts, and Herbert, Rowland, and Grubic Inc. Selected winners will also have their artwork on display at the Susquehanna Art Museum from June 1st to August 1st and a reception for the selected participants will be held during Third in the Burg on Friday, June 17th at the museum where the public can view the artwork and vote on their favorite pieces.
